I wish that I could give the versions away independently, but alas, 7 and 8 were free upgrades, so that means that a single user must be in possession of 6 to upgrade to 7 and then to 8. I would welcome the opportunity to donate/give this product and the book to a person that fits such criteria. I am not trying to circumvent rules, etc., but I am pretty sure that someone on this list or someone that you know (like a beginning e-learning developer, or someone trying to learn new skills to stay relevant and competitive in these difficult times) could benefit greatly from these products. Where I am going w/ this – like several of us getting long in the tooth on this list (Mark Lee, Phil Tobias and I say these names w/ the greatest of admiration and affection), I am semi-retired, and these disks and books are doing nothing but gathering dust in my office.

I still have all the installation disks (Windows for 6 through 8 and Mac for 7 and 8) for all versions of this product as well as a detailed book about Captivate, “Mastering Adobe Captivate 6” by Damien Bruyndonckx (and I am sure that you hard-core e-learning folks know this author well.) In the Framemaker world (my true comfort zone) my old Adobe Framemaker books are still a godsend for support even w/ newer versions because good practices and how to carry out the steps in the application just don’t change, despite the interface, so I am thinking that this book could serve the same purpose.

What do you want to start with for which topic? Is it for software apps teaching? Is it for a theoretical topic? For soft skills? This makes answering your question not so easy. I often compare it with a thoroughbred: you need some patience to tame it but it is more than worthwhile. Captivate is a multi-featured applications, having some aspects of many other Adobe applications, and on top of that what is necessary to create engaging interactivities.Īs professor in a university college I discovered Captivate about 15 years ago and it has become my most favourite app since that date.
